Primeros Pasos is a leading-edge Spanish language school in Boulder Colorado.
Owner and president Shawn Camden founded the Spanish Institute in 2011 and changed part of the name of the school to Primeros Paso in 2017. Shawn created Spanish Institute and Primeros Pasos with one goal in mind: to be the best Spanish language center possible. With a successful background in curriculum development for second language learners (English & Spanish), Shawn and his team have spent the last 7 years creating a curriculum and program second to none.
With a range of qualified and engaging teachers representing one-third of all Spanish speaking countries, students will learn not only a second language, but also a variety of Latin American cultures. Our staff and teachers participate in regular trainings to maintain and improve their already impressive skills. Shawn CamdenOwnerShawn is the owner and founder of Primeros Pasos, Spanish Institute www.spanish-institute.com , and English Institute www.english-institute.org and is responsible for overseeing and assuring the quality all components of the school. His goal is to give the opportunity to individuals to learn the Spanish language and immerse themselves into the culture. He has over 16 years of experience developing language programs. Shawn first co-founded one of the fastest growing and efficient nonprofits in the state of Colorado called Intercambio Uniting Communities www.intercambioweb.org, an organization dedicated to helping immigrants learn English and integrate into their local communities. He is also the co-founder and owner of two Mexican restaurants based in Boulder and Gunbarrel called Sancho’s www.sanchosmexican.com. He is the lead singer and song composer in a local Boulder band called Los Cheesies www.loscheesies.com |

Jonathan GrenawaltSchool Director and TeacherJonathon is a Colorado native, who grew up in Littleton, CO. He went to college at Fort Lewis College in Durango and earned a B.A. in Spanish and Teaching certification for K-12 Spanish. He has taught English in multiple countries, Mexico, Spain, and most recently Costa Rica. He also has taught Spanish in Costa Rica and here in Colorado. Jonathon most recently worked at Eiber Elementary in Lakewood, teaching 4th and 5th graders in the Dual Language Program. Before that he taught Level 1 Spanish and Honors Level 1 at Dakota Ridge High School in Jefferson County. He lived in Costa Rica for 4+ years and taught at several Institutes, Private High Schools, and ran my his own company, “English/Spanish For Your Profession”. He has instructed either English or Spanish for the last 10 years, all ages from PreK up to Advanced Adults. Now with the great opportunity to be the Director of Primeros Pasos and the Spanish Institute, he has been able to apply what he has learned to Preschool children, K-8 students, and Adult Spanish and English classes. |
