Teachers

Erika Turner

Erika is originally from Mexico City, where she studied Pedagogy and and received her Teacher’s Certification. She has lived with her family in the Unites States for over 15 years, where she became a citizen more than 6 years ago. Since she was a little girl she used to pretend to be a teacher and her dream came true when she became a swimming instructor at 16. Years after, she studied Pedagogy and then had the honor to practice her passion for teaching in a school in Mexico, where she taught English as a second language (ESL) at a preschool class and a 6th grade class. Some years after, she moved back to D.C where she was a lead teacher in a bilingual preschool. She has always thought that knowing another language and culture will open your mind and your horizons. She is so thankful every time she’s given the opportunity to share what she knows with a new student. She also loves getting to know each one of them, what they like, and how they learn, because she truly believes that every child is an individual, and therefore, his/her way of learning will be unique. Erika has been working for Primeros Pasos and Spanish Institute teaching Elementary before and after school enrichment classes in various Elementary schools in the BVSD
